Hi all,
My name is Ada and I’ve been a friend of Julie’s since 1973. I want to shine a spotlight on those individuals who in their own quiet way support or volunteer for local organizations. There are many people doing small, worthwhile things on a daily basis to support their communities … many through their own financial and personal resources even in these down economic times.
In this case, it would be Steve Barber, co-owner of the Barbers Shop Automative (and scooter sales) at 1116 18th Street. I first met Steve through Julie when she worked at PERB with Steve and then again at a fundraiser for Sister’s Animal Sanctuary. Steve has been promoting and assisting four non-profits for a number of years through 2nd Saturday events he sponsors by providing both the venue and live music. Steve provides an evening for friends to get together and partake in great music, beer, a little food, and to show support for the community in a very lively and enjoyable way. There’s always a great display of scooters to try out … in case you’re looking for a green vehicle alternative.
